What Is a Compliance Report?

Most structures on your property – excluding, perhaps, the smallest – must be officially approved structures.

If a structure – or an alteration to an existing structure – doesn’t have the necessary approvals then your buyer will find out before the purchase completes. Which means that he or she may then either want to renegotiate your price or might simply pull out of the purchase altogether.

What Approvals Do I Need?

There are two main types of approval required:

Development Approval which ensures the design meets local codes, regulations and any conditions specific to a piece of land

Building Approval which ensures the building itself is safe and sound and that it conforms to the requirements of the Building Code of Australia.

Additions or changes to structures on your property must also be approved. If they are not then your buyer faces the costs and inconvenience of correcting the unapproved structures so that compliance can be achieved.

This file contains all submitted building plans and relevant permits and certificates for your property. We compare these documents with the physical structures we find at your property. If there are any discrepancies between what the plans say should be on your property and what actually is there we can make you aware of this right away.
